- 5 to 8 years experience
- Toronto, Ontario, Canada
RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust (RioCan) is Canada’s largest REIT with assets
that include 63 million square feet of leasable property, in 300 locations across
Canada. The company has invested in, developed, and managed properties in North
America for over 25 years and remains a forward-looking, entrepreneurial organization
with the agility to seize new opportunities. Currently, with over 8 million square feet of
new developments underway, RioCan’s ever expanding portfolio continues to grow in
strategic locations with some of the most exciting retail and residential real estate
projects in the country.
RioCan is currently seeking a talented Corporate/Commercial Lawyer to join its high
caliber team as Director, Legal. Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel and
Corporate Secretary, this position is responsible for providing timely, actionable advice
to internal clients on a variety of topics including corporate and securities law,
commercial real estate matters and corporate governance initiatives. The successful
candidate will take the lead role on various matters including: drafting and negotiating
complex commercial agreements; advising on a range of strategic initiatives including
new development projects, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic
partnerships; advising on regulatory, risk and compliance matters; managing litigation;
providing leadership to an internal team and managing external counsel.
The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of corporate/commercial experience gained
from a leading law firm or major organization with a demonstrated ability to be a
strategic business partner to clients. While commercial real estate experience would
be considered an asset, it is not mandatory for this role. Exceptional negotiating and
drafting skills, an ability to deliver sound and decisive advice in a fast-paced
environment, and strong relationship-building and communication skills are a must.
If you have the requisite skill-set, please contact in complete confidence Danya Cohen
or Adam Lepofsky (both Canadian qualified lawyers) at RainMaker Group.
