Want to Become A Knowledge Management Lawyer?
Everything You Thought You Knew…But Didn’t:
It’s Not A Research Position – Becoming a KM lawyer does not mean giving up your skill-set, but rather honing it. As a KM lawyer, you will collaborate with senior partners in your practice area to critically think through and develop thoughtful and high-quality precedents, developing a mastery of drafting that is second to none. Additionally, you will be able to develop practice area expertise in a fashion that is not restricted by billable concerns or tight timelines, often becoming a ‘go to’ resource for junior associates and senior partners alike.
It’s Extremely Collaborative – KM lawyers work in consultation across almost every group within the firm. You will collaborate with the most senior members of the firm to mine expertise for the creation of superior knowledge products, you will assist and mentor junior lawyers by providing guidance on legal questions, and you will act as a critical bridge between the practice group and innovation team to develop new opportunities for lawyers to work smarter, faster and better.
It Offers Competitive Compensation – As an integral member of the firm’s team, KM lawyers are paid in a competitive manner. Compensation for these roles is not only rewarding but is not tied to billable targets or business development goals.
It Offers Autonomy & Balance – KM lawyers are afforded a high degree of control over how and when their work gets done. In most cases, KM lawyers are tasked with deliverables that are not governed by overly tight timelines and are therefore afforded both predictability and control in their work schedule and enjoy great work life balance as a result.
