CPL is seeking a Junior Corporate/Commercial Lawyer to join its north Toronto office. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer and working as a member of a small and collegial team, you will advise on both day to day legal and compliance issues and be involved in the strategic growth of this financial services company. The successful candidate will work across several business lines and gain exposure to a wide variety of work including: drafting and negotiating commercial agreements; advising on insurance regulatory requirements, privacy and general compliance; supporting corporate acquisitions, dispositions and strategic transactions; providing general corporate legal support; and advising on special projects as they arise.
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of general corporate/commercial experience gained from a reputable law firm or an in-house law department. Although prior experience within the financial services and/or insurance industry would be considered an asset, it is not a requirement for this role. CPL is seeking a self-starter with excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach to practice.
