RioCan is currently seeking a Senior Commercial Real Estate Lawyer to join its
team as Assistant Vice President, Legal. Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel
and Corporate Secretary, this position is responsible for providing timely, actionable
advice to internal clients on commercial real estate and leasing matters in support of
strategic business initiatives. The successful candidate will take the lead role in
contract drafting and negotiations, advise across various business units on contract
and lease interpretation, manage due diligence on transactions, advise on privacy
complaints and tenant disputes, manage commercial real estate related litigation,
advise on new development projects, provide leadership to an internal team and
manage external counsel.
The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of commercial real estate experience
gained from a large institutional landlord or from a leading law firm with a
demonstrated ability to be a strategic business partner to clients. Exceptional
negotiating and drafting skills, an ability to deliver sound and decisive advice in a
fast-paced environment, and strong relationship-building and communication skills are
a must.
