Our client, a prominent REIT, is seeking a Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary to serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, Board of Trustees, and Executive Leadership Team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters impacting the company’s strategy and business. You will review and negotiate documents, corporate contracts, RFPs, and other legal matters, as well as managing the in house legal department and external counsel. The General Counsel will act as the Secretary to the Board, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and reviewing regulatory disclosures, while advising on corporate governance matters.

In addition, the GC will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategy, ensuring alignment across teams, and contributing to the communication and execution of organizational goals. This leader will be instrumental in fostering a shared understanding of the company’s objectives and driving culture and impact throughout the organization. The role also involves advising senior management on risk, identifying potential areas of concern, and keeping up to date with legislative changes affecting the business.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of relevant post-call experience gained from a leading law firm and/or a corporate legal department of a mid-size to large company. Demonstrated leadership, strong communication skills and the drive to work in a fast paced, intellectually challenging and collegial environment are essential.
